Hyundai has revealed the Venue, a compact SUV that sits just under the Hyundai Creta and rival the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport. The unveiling of the Venue was done simultaneously in the USA and India. What remains to be seen is if the Venue can please the crowd like its big brother the Creta.[gallery size="full" ids="8465,8467,8461"]The Venue clearly differentiates itself as a Hyundai when you look up front. The proportions and the silhouette of the car make it look like a shrunk down Creta but that’s where the similarities stop. On the front, you can see a huge grille, with its large chrome-lined mesh that reminds you of the new Hyundai Santa Fe and the Palisade SUV. The new split headlight with slim LED strip that sits up top and the projector unit at the bottom is similar to the ones on the Hyundai Kona. Unlike the car in the US, the Indian car has a lot of cladding in and around the chin, it gets massive wheel arches with fair-sized 16-inch alloys. The vehicle side profile showcases a solid and full volume wheel arch and strong character line, this unique character line continues through the tail lamps. The rear is a mixed bag of strong proportions with an upright stance and funky design that look very appealing.[gallery size="full" ids="8462,8464,8463"]On the inside, the Venue looks well thought out and neatly designed. While the steering wheel looks identical to the one on the Kona, the trump card for the Venue is its infotainment system. It gets a high-set 8.0-inch touchscreen between a pair of air con vents, a string of shortcut keys below it. This system comes with Hyundai’s Blue Link Connectivity Technology which is a first from Hyundai in India. While we will explain this in detail once the Venue launches in Nepal, In brief, the system comprises 33 features that span safety, security, vehicle management, remote access, location-based services, alert services, and AI-based language inputs.[gallery size="full" ids="8458,8459,8460"]Powering the new Hyundai Venue will be a choice of 3 different engines. There is Hyundai’s tried and tested 1.2-liter petrol that makes 83 bhp and 115Nm of torque. There is more powerful and expensive 1.0-liter three-cylinder, direct injection turbo petrol that makes 120 bhp and 172Nm of torque. And there’s the 1.4-liter diesel that makes 90 Bhp and 220Nm of torque. As far as transmissions go, the 1.2 will be mated to a 5-speed manual, the 1.4 diesel will be mated to a 6-speed manual and the 1.0 turbo can be had in a 6-speed manual as well as a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. Hyundai is soon to launch the Venue officially in India and eventually in Nepal.
